Montreal…meet Junjun.

A brand new Filipino restaurant has opened its doors in Montreal serving up loads of signature dishes with an updated twist — making Junjun one of the first Montreal restaurants to offer modernized Filipino cuisine.

Located on rue Notre-Dame O., Junjun took over Chez Sophie's iconic spot in Griffintown with a brand new menu, a completely redone bar with a cocktail and wine list, and personal touches that make it an intimate must-try.

Spanning a total of 45 seats, Junjun is run by Bic, JoJo and Teddy Flores along with head chefs Neil John Gayo and Lorenzo Aquino, who have completed revamped Filipino cuisine in the most delicious way possible.

Guests can dive into traditional dishes with a modern touch including the duck adobo, which is usually made with pork or chicken. However, Junjun upped the ante by incorporating fruits and modifying the sauce into one you would typically taste while eating Peking duck.

Chef Aquino also reinvented bulalo by thinly slicing the beef shanks and topping it with a marrow-demi mayo, grilled corn salad, and fermented cabbage.

A few other mouthwatering dishes include Junjun's take on arroz caldo, which is a ginger-infused rice with chicken gruel transformed into mushroom risotto. And no visit is complete without trying the beef kaldereta served with potato foam and coconut peanut butter sauce.

To end the meal, patrons can enjoy a decadent bibingka, a brown butter rice cake with coconut caramel, salted egg-macapuno confiture and roasted coconuts.

So, who's hungry?
