These are Montreal's best restaurants right now, according to honest reviews from real people
Add these to your city bucket list! 🍽️

Several tasty-looking dishes from Montreal's Bistro La Franquette. Right: A singular pasta dish from Hoogan et Beaufort, Montreal.
In a city known for having North America's second-highest number of restaurants per capita, keeping up with the latest and greatest eats in Montreal can be a daunting task. That's why annual restaurant rankings (when done well) are lifesavers for Montreal foodies trying to sniff out their next must-try meal.
While some rankings are curated by critics, who may or may not share your palate, OpenTable's new list of Canada's Top 100 Restaurants of 2024 leverages reviews and metrics from verified users of its online reservation system. As OpenTable puts it on its website: "This one is driven by diners [...] just like you."
Just over a dozen Montreal restaurants made the cut this year, securing their statuses as some of the best places to dine in the country right now.
Here are Montreal's top eateries of 2024 and their ratings out of five stars, according to OpenTable reviewers:
- Bistro La Franquette | Westmount (4.9)
- Bonaparte | Old Montreal (4.8)
- Damas | Outremont (4.8)
- Garde Manger | Old Montreal (4.8)
- Hoogan & Beaufort | Rosemont (4.8)
- Le Club Chasse et Pêche | Old Montreal (4.8)
- Le Filet | Plateau-Mont-Royal (4.8)
- NÖAM | Côte-des-Neiges (4.8)
- Maison Boulud | Downtown (4.7)
- Restaurant Toque! | Old Montreal (4.7)
- Estiatorio Milos | Mile End (4.7)
- Ferreira Café | Downtown (4.7)
- Jérôme Ferrer – La Grande Table Gastronomique | Downtown (4.7)
Westmount's Bistro La Franquette scored highest on the list with an average of 4.9 out of 5 stars amongst 108 reviews, making it la crème de la crème of the city's current culinary scene. That said, the other restaurants on the list received more reviews, leaving room for more variability in their scores.
For instance, Outremont's renowned Syrian food destination, Damas, garnered the highest number of reviews—486—and still earned an overall rating of 4.8.
While many restaurants on the list are heavy hitters, well-known both inside and outside of Montreal, like the multi-award winning Maison Boulud in The Ritz-Carlton or Milos, a Mile End Greek seafood staple, beloved since 1979, newcomers and lesser-known spots also managed to climb the ranks, including kosher all-day café NÖAM, which opened on boulevard Décarie earlier this year.
Hoogan & Beaufort, open since 2015, may be hidden away in Rosemont's industrial Angus Shops complex; however, 183 reviewers are singing the praises of its local ingredients and modern wood-fired dishes, with a recent diner calling the experience "a magnificent spectacle for the eyes and the mouth."
All in all, Montreal snagged 13 spots on the list, but establishments in many other Canadian cities also earned recognition, including Calgary (11), Vancouver (10), and Toronto (35).
Though it may seem surprising that Quebec City wasn't included, the province's capital only has 10 restaurants available via OpenTable, which would significantly limit its chances.
