Gun violence in Montreal has led to various shootings recently. On Sunday night, a 22-year-old man was found dead in Montreal, in the Villeray district, after being shot in the upper body.

Montreal police received a 911 call around 9:45 p.m. regarding gunshots near rue Marquette. When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim at the intersection of rue Cartier and boulevard Crémazie, who died on the scene.

The SPVM would not confirm the name of the man who was killed, but La Presse identified him as Pierre Clermont Duckerns, a Montreal rapper known as "Jeune Loup."

"Right now, it's considered to be the 17th homicide on our territory this year," SPVM spokesperson Véronique Comtois told MTL Blog.

At the moment, police remain unsure about the circumstances that led to the shooting and don't know yet if there are one or multiple suspects.

The investigation remains ongoing and no arrests have yet been made.
