This cozy city near Montreal was named among the best in the world to visit in 2025

It's "straight out of a European painting."

Charming moments in Quebec City: relaxing by a historic street and dining at a cozy café.

If you're looking to satisfy your wanderlust in 2025, you might want to start planning a trip to this cozy destination near Montreal. With cobblestone streets, endless cafes and stunning attractions, you'll feel as if you've travelled to a far away land.

U.S. News released a list of the "Best Cities in the World to Visit for 2025" highlighting 30 bucket list destinations from across the globe.

The cities were selected based on factors such as cultural attractions, dining options, natural beauty, entertainment and reader votes. Among them, a magical city near Montreal earned a spot as one of the best places to visit this year.

Quebec City, located under 3 hours from Montreal, came in at number 30 on the list and was the only Canadian destination to be included in the roundup. Offering old-world vibes, cobblestone streets and more, it's the next best thing to a European vacation.

According to U.S. News, you can enjoy the "sight of winding cobblestone streets and towering cathedrals; the sound of French pleasantries and tourists' 'Oohs;' the smell of fresh-baked bread and pungent cheese; the taste of creamy cafe lattes and buttery croissants."

The city offers endless things to do, from exploring the scenic Montmorency Falls to visiting Château Frontenac, strolling along Dufferin Terrace and checking out the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

One of the highlights of the region is Old Quebec. According to U.S. News, "you'll discover a world straight out of a European painting: 18th- and 19th-century buildings house bakers, bistros and boutiques, while cobbled squares are drowned by a sea of cafe tables."

U.S. News reports that the best times to visit Quebec City are June through September and December through February. During the summer, you can enjoy warm weather and vibrant festivals, while in the winter months, you can soak up the snowy wonderland and take part in activities like snow tubing or visiting the Hôtel de Glace.

Quebec City was also named the second best spot to visit in Canada for 2025 by U.S. News, coming in just below Banff which took first place.
