If you're been hoping to hop on a road trip from Montreal this summer without needing your passport, then there are a slew of gorgeous Quebec destinations within proximity to Montreal that are well worth the drive.

In fact, North Hatley, a village less than 90 minutes from the city was recently ranked among the most beautiful in Canada by Culture Trip.

The travel publication ranked the top 20 most beautiful small towns in Canada, and a few Quebec locations managed to make the cut.

"North Hatley is set on the north shore of Lake Massawippi, surrounded by mountains. Located 18 mi (29km) south of the city of Sherbrooke, the village is shaped like a natural amphitheatre," Culture Trip said.

It became a favourite summer residence for wealthy Americans towards the end of the 19th century, leading to the construction of numerous opulent homes. These historic residences have since been transformed into charming bed-and-breakfasts, art galleries, and boutiques.

The village hosts a weekly farmer's market, outdoor concerts, and arts festivals, offering a rich cultural experience. For those looking for some of the best spots to dine, North Hatley is home to several quaint cafes and restaurants serving local cuisine, while artisan shops provide unique crafts and antiques.

With its welcoming atmosphere, historic charm, and a range of cozy inns, bed-and-breakfasts, and vacation rentals, North Hatley is an idyllic spot for a summer getaway.

And for those who love them some summer activities, visitors can enjoy a variety of water sports like kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding on the lake, as well as hiking and cycling on nearby trails.

So, pack the car, get driving and road trip away.
