According to a study by digital automotive company Twinner, Montreal ranks among the most honest cities in the world but is actually the least honest city in Canada. 

By evaluating six metrics — "transparency in government," "transparency in society," "transparency in economy," "civic honesty," "perception of theft" and "car dealer reviews" — the company put our fine city in 54th place out of 350 cities included in the study.

A new study by the Angus Reid Institute has revealed divided opinions about racism in Canada, with only 24% of Quebec respondents agreeing that "Canada is a racist country" — the least of any province. That's compared to 44% of Saskatchewan respondents.

The study categorized respondents into four camps, "detractors, guarded, accepting, and advocates," in order to determine where Canadians stand on perceptions of race relations and racism.

According to a study by the website Holidu, Montreal has the 50th most expensive water prices in the world out of 120 cities that were evaluated. 

The study looked at the difference in price between tap water and bottled water as well as the variations in water scarcity in each region. Compared to other Canadian cities, Vancouver has the most expensive overall water prices and Toronto has the least expensive overall prices.

The study, by HouseHoldQuotes, analyzed nearly 50,000 geo-tagged IKEA-themed tweets. It measured the language for levels of stress using a tool called TensiStrength

A new study conducted by the World Health Organization found that one in three women, roughly 736 million around the world, experience violence. And a team of McGill researchers, led by Professor Mathieu Maheu-Giroux, was part of the study.

The study titled, "Global, regional and national estimates for intimate partner violence against women and global and regional estimates for non-partner sexual violence against women" is the "Largest study ever conducted on the prevalence of violence against women," according to the university.

Quebec researchers from the Montreal Heart Institute have found that colchicine — a medication used to treat inflammation and gout — is an effective oral treatment for COVID-19.

Colchicine is currently the only known effective oral medication for treating non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients — a world first, according to a press release issued by the Institute on January 23.

A new study out of the Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke and University of Ottawa has found that police tickets issued to Montreal's homeless population have soared over the past 27 years.

The researchers analyzed 50,727 statements of offence issued in Montreal between 2012 and 2019 to individuals who provided the address of an organization that offers services to the homeless.
