If you have been hoping for a winter getaway, then you just might want to consider spending a few days in Toronto as VIA Rail currently has several tickets on sale from Montreal to Toronto for as low as $54.

VIA Rail is offering cheaper tickets thanks to its Tuesday Discount special. Montrealers can opt to depart as soon as February 27, 2024, for the discounted fare. All you need to do is use the code: TUESDAY in order to claim the $54 one-way fare.

Tickets for the escape route fare are also $54 on other days throughout the winter. For example, trips from Montreal to Toronto on February 28, March 5 to 7, March 12 to 13, March 19 to 21, March 23, and March 25 to 28 will cost no more than $54 plus taxes.

Considering the cost of gas and the headache that comes with flying, taking the train just might be the perfect alternative to getting to Toronto.

The VIA Rail tickets from Montreal to Toronto vary in travel time, as the distance spans between five and eight hours, it's best to verify the schedule when making your reservation.

VIA Rail offers travellers free Wi-Fi, power outlets and the option to purchase any light meals, snacks and hot or cold beverages aboard the train.

Per VIA Rail's terms and conditions, tickets are exchangeable prior to departure with a service charge of 50% of the fare but are non-refundable. As for baggage, you will be entitled to one personal item of 11.5 kg (2 pounds) and one large bag weighing 23 kg (50 pounds).
