This Montreal restaurant and speakeasy offers a bougie three-course tasting menu for $25

An ideal night out in the Old Port.

Two plates of beef carpaccio and a bowl of Asian-style shrimp in the background. Right: Someone holds a cheesy forkful of beef with aligot at a Montreal restaurant.

You can do just that at Vandale every Wednesday through Saturday between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Located a stone's throw from the Square Victoria metro station, Vandale a fun restaurant featuring an open kitchen and street art by a dozen local artists across several levels. It's also home to prohibition-themed cocktail bar Le Speakeasy, but you'll have to figure out how to find it for yourself (sorry — we don't make the rules).

The tasting menu may be inexpensive, but between the trendy, buzzy atmosphere and high-end dishes on offer, the experience feels the furthest thing from cheap.

For the first course, you can select northern shrimps with Asian vinaigrette, pickled vegetables, papaya, and gochujang or beef carpaccio with pesto, parsley oil, red berry chutney and fried capers.

The second course is a choice between pesto cavatelli with pine nuts and beef with aligot, red wine and parsley.

Don't forget to leave room for dessert. You'll be indulging in white chocolate panna cotta and berries. Yum.

Keep in mind that the dishes are subject to change. However, in an Instagram post, Vandale said they'll keep you guys posted on social media and promised that the $25 menu is here to stay all summer long.

Vandale also offers a broader deal on their regular menu: a choice of any three dishes (excluding oysters and platters) with a dessert for $53. Split that with two friends and it's only around $18 each.

After you eat, why not find Le Speakeasy? (Okay, fine. It's down the stairs and through the refrigerator door.) While these specials don't apply there as they're specific to Vandale, you'll surely have saved some extra bucks to spend on an inventive cocktail or two.
