Delivery services across Canada are on a hiring spree. Canada Post and Purolator have a bunch of job openings in preparation for the peak delivery season. FedEx, meanwhile, is hiring staff to meet the greater rise in e-commerce brought on by the pandemic.
According to James Anderson, communications advisor at FedEx Canada, the company has already hired over 6,000 more workers since June 2020.
Now, Anderson says, FedEx is looking to hire an additional 1,162 workers across the country. All but 17 of these openings are ongoing.
In Montreal, FedEx anticipates hiring 72 more team members. But if you don't live in Montreal, don't fret.
Across the province, FedEx is looking to hire 222 people.
"FedEx Express Canada still has opportunities for full-time and part-time employment," Anderson said. "Positions available include drivers, couriers, and cargo handlers."

Who Should Apply: If you're working on, or are even transitioning out of, a career in law enforcement or security services, this is an opportunity for you to use your skills. You must have at least five years of experience to apply.

Why You Should Apply: If you've got experience in technical product management, "driving the product vision" and creating web products, plus a bachelor's degree or comparable practical experience, then becoming a product manager for Google could be your calling.
Why You Should Apply: Clearly Google is on the hunt for managers across the board. Those who have an undergrad degree in math, computer science or another relevant field or "equivalent practical experience" plus half a decade of customer-related experience, transforming programs and other skills have a good chance at the engagement manager position.
Why You Should Apply: People with five years' experience with "software development in C++ or Java programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms," among other required qualifications, are welcome to apply for Google's senior software developer opening.
Why You Should Apply: You still have a chance at being hired as Google's next enterprise field sales representative without having an undergrad degree if you've got seven years of tech-related sales or business development experience at another business-to-business software company.
The job consists of helping clients by answering calls, advising them and building customer loyalty. According to the job listing, the main goal is "understanding the needs of members and clients" by offering them a "unique" and "personalized experience."
In addition to the hourly wage, some employees also receive a shift bonus, depending on the hours they work.
Plus, there are benefits. Employees are entitled to up to $400 per year to spend on physical activity and get a 20% discount on annual public transit passes. There's even the possibility of having tuition fees reimbursed and joining a group RRSP.
The job listing also says you can "customize your career development path with guiding support from your manager" so there may be room for growth within the company.
The company is looking for candidates who can "learn with agility" and appreciate differences in individual customer needs as well as candidates who are "customer-focused" and "action oriented."
Other than that, there are no job requirements listed so you don't need previous call centre experience.
Once hired, new staff members have access to a complete training program paid for by the company.
If you're outside the Montreal area, the company is hiring for the same job in Quebec City, Lévis, Rimouski and Gaspé. It's currently a remote gig due to the pandemic but eventually, you may need to work from the Granby office. That said, according to the listing, Desjardins is open to hybrid working arrangements.
The government of Quebec announced a new initiative to meet current and future labour needs in the childhood education services network. The plan, titled "opération main-d'œuvre," aims to recruit thousands of educators, in part through a student scholarship program offering up to $9,000.
The Minister of Families, Mathieu Lacombe, and the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Jean Boulet, revealed the new measures as part of a $300 million government investment to enlist more people in the profession.
Starting September 2022, any CEGEP student enrolled full-time in an early childhood education program (Techniques d'éducation à l'enfance) is eligible to receive a $1,500 scholarship per completed semester, which represents a total of $9,000 for the entirety of the program, according to a press release.
The Quebec government launched "opération main-d'œuvre" on November 30, 2021, in order to meet increasing labour demands in health care, social services, education, and childcare.
In a statement, Lacombe said the new measures represent "concrete action to attract new people to this exceptional and above all essential profession for our children, but also for society as a whole."

The Quebec government is set to recruit 18,000 new educators, in addition to re-qualifying 7,000 child care workers already in the field; a goal they plan to reach by 2026.
Minister Jean Boulet assured the public that he is "convinced that with all the means deployed, in particular the many support measures for training and skills development from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, we will achieve our goal."
The government also announced plans to encourage retired and experienced workers to return to the field by offering a 6.6% salary bump until March 2023.
