Quebec is finally getting a Michelin Guide and inspectors are already dining at restaurants
Your fave Montreal eateries could be getting Michelin stars! ⭐⭐⭐

A Quebec flag blowing in the wind. Right: A sign showing three Michelin stars in the window of a restaurant.
When it comes to restaurant ratings, nothing beats a Michelin star (other than two or three Michelin stars, that is). Now, your favourite Montreal eateries finally have the chance to be recognized with this esteemed designation.
In association with l’Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec, MICHELIN Guide announced Thursday that it has arrived in Quebec, marking its third Canadian destination after Toronto and Vancouver.
This means anonymous inspectors are currently dining at restaurants across the province, including in Montreal, as they suss out the local food scene to find spots worthy of MICHELIN stars, MICHELIN Green Stars, MICHELIN recommendations, and Bib Gourmand Awards, which highlight high-quality cuisine at affordable prices.

"We are excited to plant our flag in Québec as the newest destination for the MICHELIN Guide in Canada,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, in a news release.
"Québec’s culinary scene shines a light on the rich heritage and traditions of the province attracting travellers on the lookout for remarkable and tasty experiences. I look forward to revealing what my famously anonymous Inspectors discover for the inaugural selection."
How do restaurants earn Michelin stars?
Michelin assesses restaurants based on five universal criteria:
- quality products;
- the harmony of flavours;
- the mastery of cooking techniques;
- the voice and personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine;
- consistency between each visit and throughout the menu (each restaurant is inspected numerous times per year).
When will Michelin reveal its selections?
The first MICHELIN Guide Québec selections are set to be revealed in 2025 and will feature "culinary gems throughout the province," the news release says.
