3 Quebec spots were ranked among Canada's top summer vacation destinations for 2024
One of them is just two hours from Montreal!

With May just around the corner, it's not too early to start planning your summer vacation. Where do you think you'll go?
Sure, international adventures are exciting. But there are also incredible tourist spots right here in our nation's own backyard. Travelling domestically within Canada can also save you from headaches, like needing to get a visa or pass through customs, and depending on your destination, it can sometimes save you time and money, too.
Airbnb recently released its 2024 summer travel trends, revealing the top trending domestic destinations for Canadians this summer. Turns out, you really don't have to go far to visit the country's hotspots, seeing as three places in Quebec made the list.
In this case, "trending destinations" are defined as cities and towns with the most year-over-year growth in terms of Airbnb searches for future stays between June and August 2024.
Here are the top trending domestic destinations for Canadians this summer:
- Blue Mountain, Ontario
- La Haute-Gaspésie, Québec
- Quebec City, Québec
- Mont-Tremblant, Québec
- Dieppe, New Brunswick
- Hubbards, Nova Scotia
- St. Catharines, Ontario
- Kananaskis, Alberta
- Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador
- Edmundston, New Brunswick
While these are not in a particular order, Airbnb did confirm that Blue Mountain ranked as number one.
"Destinations near national and provincial parks take up four of the top 10 trending domestic destinations for Canadians this summer, with travel this upcoming season heading east, with nine destinations on the list part of Eastern Canada. In fact, searches for Airbnb’s National Park category is up 125% compared to last summer," said an Airbnb spokesperson in an emailed press release.
As you can see, La Haute-Gaspesie, Quebec City and Mont-Tremblant are Quebec places that are increasing in popularity, according to Airbnb, and are among the top spots Canadians want to visit this summer.
All three of these destinations are tourism hubs for good reason.
Haute-Gaspesie, in particular, is known for its gorgeous natural landscapes, bordered by the Chic-Choc Mountains and the Saint-Lawrence River with "peaks reaching over a thousand metres and marine ecosystems stretching over 130 kilometres," as described on the Vacances Haute-Gaspesie website.
But Haute-Gaspesie is around seven-and-a-half hours by car from Montreal, and Quebec City is about a three-hour drive away.
Mont Tremblant, in the Laurentians, is the closest to Montreal — around a two-hour drive. Hotels in the village can be expensive, which may explain the surging Airbnb searches, but if you're looking for a short getaway, and you enjoy hiking, swimming, ziplining, watersports, tennis, Dune Buggy rides and the like, it could be a great fit.
Otherwise, there are seven out-of-province destinations on the list for you to explore.

Bon voyage!
