The STM just overhauled 30 bus routes in 5 boroughs with lines eliminated, added and merged
If you ride Société de transport de Montréal (STM) busses, you may feel like you have your usual routes down to a science. But starting August 26, prepare to encounter major changes to 30 or so STM bus lines that could impact how you get around.
The STM's bus network overhaul, which came into effect on Monday, means that certain busses have been eliminated altogether and replaced or merged with other lines. It also means brand-new rush-hour high-frequency lines have been added and certain routes have been given different names.

The affected bus routes run through Lachine, LaSalle, Verdun, the Sud-Ouest and Ville-Marie Sud. This is everything you need to know, as per the STM website.
Lachine and LaSalle
Three new rush-hour high-frequency lines are running in Lachine and LaSalle: the 107 Verdun, the 112 Airlie and the 496 Express Victoria.
The STM says this results in "faster, more direct access to the metro and downtown, making it easy to reach the city centre" while simplifying travel between boroughs, creating more straightforward bus routes and saving transit users time.
Here's a full list of the Lachine and LaSalle bus lines that were modified as of August 26, 2024, according to the STM:
- 58 Wellington: Eliminated. To compensate, service frequency on the 107 Verdun has increased and the route has been extended in the LaSalle borough, covering a larger area and providing a direct connection to downtown. The 61 Wellington continues to provide local service.
- 101 Saint‑Patrick: Extended to LaSalle Borough Hall and connected to Angrignon metro station, as well as the Lafleur-Newman terminus.
- 106 Newman: Merged with the 406 Express Newman (eliminated) to become a rush-hour high-frequency line. The western portion of the current 106 Newman route has also been simplified.
- 107 Verdun: Has become a rush-hour high-frequency line and extended further west, taking riders all the way to CÉGEP André-Laurendeau with stops at Verdun metro station and Square-Victoria-OACI station.
- 109 Boulevard Shevchenko: Eliminated. Use the 114 Angrignon, 106 Newman, 123 Dollard/Shevchenko or 195 Dorval/Angrignon instead.
- 110 Central: Stops closer to CÉGEP André-Laurendeau and Carrefour Angrignon. The route has also been simplified south of the Canal de l’Aqueduc.

- 406 Express Newman: Eliminated. This change is accommodated by the 106 Newman becoming a rush-hour high-frequency line.
- 491 Express Lachine: Changes have been made to make the line more efficient and make use of the reserved lane on Highway 20 to downtown.
- 495 Express Lachine/LaSalle: Renamed 198 Broadway. Several sections of this route have changed to make it easier to travel between Lachine and LaSalle.
- 496 Express Victoria: This line has become a rush-hour high-frequency line.
Verdun, Sud-Ouest and south Ville-Marie
In Verdun, the STM has added two new rush-hour high-frequency lines, the 107 Verdun and 112 Airlie, which it says allows "time gains to even more customers in these areas."
Here's a full list of the Verdun, Sud-Ouest and south Ville-Marie bus lines that were modified as of August 26, 2024, according to the STM:
- 15 Sainte-Catherine: Eliminated. The STM says that "Lines 150 René-Lévesque, whose frequency will be improved, and 24 Sherbrooke bus line run in the downtown area, as does the métro’s Green line, which exits directly onto Sainte-Catherine Street."

- 36 Monk: Modified to provide better service to the Sud-Ouest’s commercial areas and to École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS).

- 38 De l’Église: A new line in service! This line serves rue de l’Église between De l’Église and Vendôme metro stations to accommodate the changes to 37 Jolicoeur. It also links the Sud-Ouest, Verdun and Westmount as well as Verdun Hospital and MUHC.
- 57 Pointe‑Saint‑Charles: Renamed to 57 Charlevoix and modified north of Charlevoix metro station.
- 58 Wellington: Eliminated. To compensate, service frequency on the 107 Verdun has increased and the route has been extended in LaSalle, "covering a larger area and providing a direct connection to downtown." The 61 Wellington continues to provide local service.

If a particular line on either of these area's routes isn't mentioned, it's because the STM says it has remain unchanged.
