The extended shopping hours Quebec announced last month are almost here.

Starting March 11, 2026, non-food retailers across the province will be able to stay open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, under a one-year voluntary pilot project announced by Samuel Poulin, Quebec's minister for the economy and small and medium-sized businesses. That means no more racing to beat the Sunday closing time.

Daylight saving time is almost here, and this year it's arriving with a side of warm weather.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, clocks in Quebec spring forward one hour to 3 a.m. That means one hour of your precious sleep will vanish. If you're still out when it happens, your Saturday night just got shorter, too, since bars lose an hour of service.

Quebec's healthcare system gets a lot of bad press, and to be fair, some of it is deserved. With overflowing ERs and endless wait times, the network is constantly under strain. Over 420,000 Quebecers were forced to leave a hospital's emergency room without receiving treatment in 2025, as per a recent study conducted by the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI).

But while there's plenty of room for improvement, the province is also home to some world-class facilities. In fact, several of Montreal's specialized hospitals just got recognized among the best in the world at what they do.

An Armenian bakery that has been serving the Montreal community for over 40 years just received a complaint from Quebec's language watchdog — and it's not over a sign or a menu. It's about their TikTok page.

Montreal's transit agency says the "Go Habs Go!" slogan will return to some city buses next month after the provincial language watchdog authorized the use of the English expression.
