When it comes to digital delights, Canadians seem to have a taste for the "eh"rotic. Pornhub's latest reveal of Canada's top search trends is like peeling back the curtain on a very private show. This year's risqué report card teases with a curious mix of animated fantasies and therapeutic searches, along with a few familiar faces topping the charts.
Canada maintains its position as the 9th top country by traffic on Pornhub, consistent with last year's ranking. Canadians are also lasting longer on the site, averaging 10 minutes and 1 second, a 33-second increase from the previous year. That mirrors a global trend of increased stay time on Pornhub, up by an average of 15 seconds.
Familiar favourites stay on top
In the realm of racy research, Canadians have shown a consistent yearning for "milf," a term that has triumphantly topped the charts yet again in 2023, mirroring last year's popularity. On the rise, and up by one spot since last year, is "hentai," showcasing a growing fascination with this animated art form. Meanwhile, "lesbian" has seen a slight dip, down one spot this year, but still firmly in the mix
The list of top porn stars in Canada aligns with international trends, featuring familiar names like Abella Danger, Sky Bri, and Johnny Sins. Their global popularity confirms that when it comes to steamy screen idols, most don't stray far from the worldwide web of desire.
In search of sexual healing
Trending searches in Canada show viewers are seeking a mix of comfort and exploration. The term "therapy" saw a significant jump, up by 566% in 2023, suggesting a decidedly "hands-on" approach to stress relief. "Pure pleasure" wasn't far behind, with a 561% increase.
In terms of categories, Canada's top mirror global trends with Lesbian and Threesome leading the pack. But it’s in the more specific categories where the subtlety of Canada's viewing habits comes into focus. Indian-themed content is viewed 118% more in Canada compared to other countries, Small Tits content 76% more, and Handjob scenes saw a 56% increase in viewership. A figure that reflects not just a shift in viewership but perhaps a new era where "Netflix and chill" has some serious competition.
Ladies' night on the net
Adult entertainment isn't just a boys' club anymore. It seems women are scrolling and, well, enjoying the view. Globally, the proportion of female viewers increased by 1% in 2023, now accounting for 36% of all visitors. In Canada, women make up 29% of the audience.
Since Google Analytics started tracking viewer demographics in 2015, there's been a clear increase in the number of women watching. In 2015, women made up 24% of viewers, and this has consistently grown every year, reaching a 12% overall increase in eight years.
What's hot across the ages
Analyzing the generational divides in adult content preferences, Gen Z showed a unique fascination, with Cosplay leading the charge at a staggering +146% increase in interest compared to other age groups. This generation also favored Hentai (+94%), Interactive content (+90%), and Smoking (+88%). In contrast, Gen Y gravitated towards Muscular Men, showing a +69% increased interest, along with a strong liking for Tattooed Women (+43%), Cosplay (+38%), and Role Play (+25%).
Gen X, diverging from younger trends, showed a preference for Scissoring (+29%) and Vintage themes (+28%), alongside a notable interest in Fingering (+22%). The Boomer generation, meanwhile, exhibited a significant inclination towards Smoking (+68%), Handjob (+56%), and Mature themes (+54%).
Canada's adult content preferences suggest a nation that might be polite in public but unapologetically bold in the privacy of their browsers.
