The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is currently recalling several salad kits sold across Canada due to a listeria outbreak.
The recalled products were sold at Canadian grocery stores including Costco, Provigo and other shops that carry brands including Taylor Farms, Fresh Express, Dole and President's Choice.
"The affected products are being recalled from the marketplace due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination," the CFIA said.
What You Need To Know: The recall was initially triggered in the United States and is associated with an outbreak investigation of Listeria infections linked to dairy products manufactured by Rizo Lopez Foods.

What Is Being Done: The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. Furthermore, while there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these salad kits, the CFIA is listing symptoms linked with listeria contamination.
"Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk."

What You Need To Do: The CFIA is urging Canadian consumers to verify if they have any of the recalled products and to toss them out right away or return them to the point of purchase. Additionally, the federal health department is suggesting you not use, consume, serve, use or sell any recalled products.
"If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your healthcare provider," the CFIA said.
