Canadian consumers should verify their groceries as a salad kit sold at Costco Canada has been recalled due to possible Listeria contamination.

Costco Canada has shared a food recall issued by Taylor Farms regarding one of its salad kits as it could make you very sick.

The Costco Canada recall is in response to the initial recall by Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc., which produces and supplies cheese products, which are used in the Taylor Farms product.

As for the Taylor Farms Mexican Style Street Corn Chopped Salad Kit sold at Costco, the cotija cheese, an ingredient in the salad mix, could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Here are the details regarding the affected food item:

  • Taylor Farms Mexican Style Street Corn Chopped Salad Kit | Costco Item #178567 | Sold between January 12, 2024 and February 6, 2024, at Costco warehouses and/or the Costco Business Centres.
"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and ask you to please pass this letter along to anyone to whom this salad kit may have been given," the recall warning says.

The recall page also indicates the dangers associated with food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. "Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness."

For those who do have the recalled item, it's recommended not to consume the salad kit and to return it to a Costco Wholesale where you can obtain a full refund.
