Montreal's Asian night market — taking place, this year, under the dreamy, twinkling lights of the wish tree in Chinatown — is officially in full swing and full of delicious surprises.

The market is currently running every weekend until October 3. Organizers have partnered with La Pépinière | Espaces Collectifs, a project organizer for public spaces in Montreal, and Quartier des Spectacles to present yummy Asian street food as well as special programming.

So, what can you expect to find at the night market? A spokesperson told us the vendors are subject to change each week, but here are some of the merchants that will be there for multiple weeks: Le Coq Frit, Whale Juice & Blends, Ca Lem, Dobe & Andy, Resto La Cible, Mon Shing and Sugar Marmalade.

That means you can expect scrumptious fried chicken (Le Coq Frit is actually owned by director of the night market and Chinatown merchant Yifang Hu), slushie drinks, and artisanal ice cream in flavours like lemon yuzu, strawberry lychee, Vietnamese coffee or taro.

Many people at the market opted to try massive Korean rice dogs, whole grilled squids or deep-sea octopus tentacles on sticks, spiral potatoes, kimchi fries, and stir-fried noodles.

Admission to the market is free. Most dishes range from $4 to $8, with premium dishes costing between $9 and $12.
