Montrealers took to the streets on May 21, protesting for tougher French-language law reform than what was proposed in Quebec's new Bill 96. Three hundred and fifty people responded to the event on Facebook. 

The demonstration — dubbed Grande marche pour le français, with the slogan "En français, c'est non négociable!" — was formed by two sovereignist groups: the Mouvement des jeunes souverainistes and the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal (SSJB).

Teetering on the brink of another sad pandemic milestone, Quebec reported 9,999 total COVID-19 deaths, after withdrawing one death that an investigation found was not attributable to the novel coronavirus. 

On the bright side, Quebec's COVID-19 hospitalizations took a dip, with the province recording a decrease of 58 patients on February 5, bringing the current total to 982. We haven't seen COVID-19 hospitalizations dip below 1,000 since December.
