Health Canada has recalled a personal hand massage gun sold across Canada due to fire and burn hazards. According to the federal health agency, the massagers can overheat while charging, posing a fire and burn risk to consumers.

The Health Canada recall involves the HoMedics Therapist Select Massagers with model number HHP-715 or HHP-715-CA. Canadian consumers should be able to spot the "HoMedics" logo printed on the side of the barrel of the product. The recalled massage gun is black, with a handle, housing and massage head attached to the end. The product also has a 120 VAC and 60HZ power cord.

HoMedics reported that approximately 41,000 units of the affected products were sold throughout Canada and over 45,000 were sold across the United States. The recall page indicated that the affected products were sold from September 2020 to December 2023.

As of December 21st, 2023, HoMedics received four reports of overheating while charging in Canada and no reports of injuries. As for consumers in the -United States, the company received a total of 13 reports of overheating while charging and one report of a burn to a person's thumb.

Health Canada is advising Canadian consumers to "immediately stop using and charging the recalled massagers and contact HoMedics," for a full refund or a refund in the form of a credit with a 20% additional discount.
