If you've ever felt like flying out of Montreal Airport was more of a hassle than it should be, turns out you're not imagining things. A new survey of North American airports just dropped, and let's just say YUL did not come out looking good.

The 2025 North America Airport Satisfaction Study from J.D. Power asked more than 30,000 travellers to rate their airport experiences, from check-in and security to food options and overall vibes. Airports were divided into three categories — mega, large, and medium — based on annual passenger traffic.

Flying domestic out of Montreal Trudeau International Airport usually means juggling an overpriced coffee, hunting for a free outlet, and waiting shoulder-to-shoulder at the gate. But on my last visit to YUL, I got to experience something brand new, and it honestly changed the whole experience.

While it's been welcoming travellers for the past few weeks, the AMEX Aspire Lounge officially opened on September 3, across from YUL Pizza in the domestic terminal (between gates 1 and 2). It's the airport's first-ever common-use domestic lounge, which means you don't need to be flying a certain airline or in business class to get in. It also happens to be the first American Express co-branded lounge in Canada.

Travellers flying out of Montreal-Trudeau Airport this weekend could face major disruptions as Air Canada begins a phased wind-down of its services ahead of a planned strike by flight attendants.

In a social media post earlier today, YUL (Montréal-Trudeau International Airport) confirmed its teams are closely monitoring the situation and warned that flight cancellations could start as soon as today.

Flying with Air Canada this week? You might want to check your booking. The airline is preparing to shut down most of its flights after giving a 72-hour lockout notice in response to strike action from its flight attendants' union.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), which represents about 10,000 flight attendants at Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, says it plans to strike as early as August 16. Air Canada will start cancelling flights on August 14, with more cancellations August 15, and a full stop to mainline and Rouge flights by August 16.

There's been no shortage of construction at Montreal's airport this summer — and now some big changes are happening on the food front, too.

As of August 4, three long-standing restaurants at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport have permanently closed: St-Hubert Express, La Brûlerie Saint-Denis, and Burger King. All three were located in the public departures area and had been serving travellers for years.

If you've ever grabbed a bite at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport before boarding a flight, you're definitely not alone. But not every food spot at YUL has a spotless track record.

One restaurant located in the airport's international zone was fined a total of $7,250 in 2025 for food safety violations, according to recent records from Quebec's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ). MAPAQ maintains a regularly updated list of establishments cited for infractions, and so far, this year's entries include two separate judgments against the same airport bistro.

If you're job hunting in Montreal and want something steady without needing a university degree, Montreal-Trudeau Airport is full of opportunities. Several airlines and stores are currently hiring, and many only require a high school diploma or equivalent.

From kitchen gigs to customer service, these positions offer decent starting pay (often with night and weekend premiums), employee benefits, and chances to move up through internal training and career pathways. Some even come with travel perks, depending on the employer.

Fewer Canadians are heading south of the border, and Montreal is leading the slowdown.

Quebec's go-to airline for affordable beach getaways just flew its final flight.

That's right, as of this week, Sunwing Airlines no longer exists. On Wednesday, the WestJet Group officially folded the low-cost carrier into its operations, meaning all future Sunwing flights will now be operated by WestJet planes and crews. The move marks the end of an era for Canadian leisure travel, especially for Quebec travellers used to flying out of Montréal-Trudeau to Cuba, Mexico, or the Dominican Republic.
