The Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation (MAPAQ) has published a recall warning regarding several sushi products sold at various grocery stores across Montreal.

According to the provincial health agency, the affected products contain or may contain allergenic substances that are not properly labelled on the packaging.

What You Need To Know

The MAPAQ in collaboration with the food inspection division of Montreal and Zoto Sushi, which operates in various Metro grocery stores across Montreal, have recalled various sushi rolls and pre-made items as the packaging does not list all ingredients used in the food items.

The ministry is advising people with an allergy to soy, wheat, fish, sulphites or eggs, or those with celiac disease or another disease induced by the ingestion of gluten, not to consume the products listed below:

  • Zoto Sushi gyoza | All lots where eggs, fish, wheat, soy, and sulphites aren't listed on the label
  • Zoto Sushi avocado and imitation Crab | All lots where eggs, fish, wheat, soy, and sulphites aren't listed on the label
  • Zoto Sushi shrimp tempura roll | All lots where eggs, fish, wheat, soy, and sulphites aren't listed on the label

The MAPAQ is currently recalling the products in question and is verifying that the recalled sushi rolls and gyoza are being properly removed from the following Quebec grocery stores:

  • 3000, boul. De La Rousselière (Montreal)
  • 450, boul. Don-Quichotte (l'Île-Perrot)
  • 6333, rue Beaubien E. (Montreal)
  • 107, boul. Cardinal-Léger (Pincourt)
  • 305, boul. Iberville (Repentigny)

This warning applies only to people with an allergy to soy, wheat, fish, sulphites or eggs, or to those with celiac disease or another disease induced by the ingestion of gluten.

What You Need To Do

Affected individuals who have one of these products are advised not to consume it. It's best to return it to its point of purchase or toss it out immediately, per the Quebec recall warning page.
