Montreal restaurants are collecting foodie accolades left and right.

The city of Montreal is known to be a culinary hotspot across the world, and there really is no denying how astounding our food scene is. After including two Montreal restaurants in its list of Most Legendary Restaurants, TasteAtlas would agree.

The online food publication is an atlas dedicated to cataloging and promoting local ingredients, traditional recipes, and authentic restaurants, and when it comes to some of the best restaurants in the world, Montreal obviously made the list.

TasteAtlas pooled together nearly 25,000 traditional eateries from across the globe, narrowing the best of the best down to a winner's list of 150 restaurants.

"These are not just places to eat, but also cultural institutions for their cities. They are ranked taking into account three criteria: longevity, visitors ratings, and the TasteAtlas ratings of the iconic dishes they offer," the publication said.

So, which two Montreal restaurants made the cut?

Schwartz's managed to rank 58th overall, which is rather impressive considering the list is comprised of 150 global eateries. The Montreal restaurant has been serving up its iconic Montreal-style smoked meat since 1928, making it clear that if there's one restaurant you have to try in Montreal, it's Schwartz's.

Casse-Croute La Banquise also made the list, ranking 107th overall. After opening its doors back in 1968, La Banquise has become a staple Montreal restaurant known for its vast selection of mouthwatering poutines. Not to mention the resto is open 24/7 — this way you can get your hands on one of Montreal's most signature dishes any hour of the day.

Figmüller in Vienna took the top spot, while L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples and Hofbräuhaus München in Munich, made up the remainder of the top three best restaurants in the world.

In fact, Italy and India made up the majority of the top 10, with a total of three restaurants from each country appearing at the top of the ranking.

Wondering which other global eateries made the list? Here's the complete top 10 of the best restaurants in the world, per TasteAtlas:

  1. Figmüller — Vienne, Austria
  2. L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele — Naples, Italy
  3. Hofbräuhaus München — Munich, Germany
  4. Gino e Toto Sorbillo — Naples, Italy
  5. Paragon Restaurant — Kozhikode, India
