Two Emily in Paris (Netflix) stars were spotted in Montreal recently, giving fans a taste of the Québécois spinoff we never knew we needed: Julien and Luc in Montreal.

Between press events, French actors Samuel Arnold and Bruno Gouery toured Montreal landmarks, picked sides in the city's legendary bagel battle and filmed their first time trying poutine — an experience which left one of them confused and the other converted.

Montreal restaurants are collecting foodie accolades left and right.

The city of Montreal is known to be a culinary hotspot across the world, and there really is no denying how astounding our food scene is. After including two Montreal restaurants in its list of Most Legendary Restaurants, TasteAtlas would agree.

When you're up late — just getting out of a club, or simply practicing some good old revenge bedtime procrastination — and the craving for poutine, smoked meat, shwarma, or some other greasy goodness sets in, there are Montreal restaurants you can rely on to satisfy that late-night hunger.

These spots serve comfort food around the clock and, according to Google, are the most popular after-hours joints in the city:

Montreal is home to some of the best restaurants in Canada. Whether you're in the mood for Lebanese cuisine, African, Southeast Asian, Italian or Polish food, Montreal has got you covered and then some.

While you'll find some of the most delicious eateries in every corner of the city, the Plateau is easily one of the most culinary diverse boroughs across Montreal. With well-known streets such as Rachel, Mont-Royal, Saint-Denis and Saint Laurent all being home to some of the top restaurants, it's safe to say that the Plateau is the spot to experience Montreal's food scene.

When the nightlife winds down and hunger hits, Montreal doesn't disappoint. Beyond the regular midnight-closing joints, this city thrives with spots serving up tastes until the early morning, and some even round the clock.

We’re talking about just as many cheesy and greasy diners as there are refined spots to enjoy your meal with a glass of wine. Pizza and paninis, Japanese ramen, shawarma, fancy hot dogs, you name it — there’s a surprisingly large number of great things to pick from late at night in Montreal, but these are the best of them.

Simu Liu, most known for his roles as Ken in Barbie and the Marvel hero Shang-Chi, took a break from the action to share his culinary conquests in Montreal. The Canadian actor revealed which Montreal restaurants he's visited and loved, and one spot, in particular, received a lot of extra admiration from the Kim's Convenience star.

Liu recently sat down with MTL Blog to discuss his latest campaign as Cheetos first-ever Canadian partnership. With his go-to being Flaming Hot Cheetos, the actor admitted that the only way to really get rid of that orange dust is to lick it off. Luckily for Liu — and lucky for us in the conversation that followed — finger-licking-good foods are something he's familiar with.

Cheese, fries and gravy. A simple trio that when combined creates the classic, mouthwatering dish we all know and love as poutine. Now, grabbing the iconic Quebec meal at one of Montreal's must-try spots is how to really do poutine right. But sometimes, a poutine from one of the big fast-food chains just has to do.

So could a quickie from your fave drive-thru chain approach the poutine calibre of the real deal dishes that you'd find at Montreal restaurants such as La Banquise, Chez Claudette and Decarie Hot Dog? That's what I wanted to find out.

It's hard to visit Montreal without hearing about La Banquise. The restaurant is hardly ever empty, and lines often stretch down the block as an eclectic mix of locals and tourists wait patiently for what are often touted as some of the best poutines — 30 in total on an ever-changing menu — in the city.

Its co-owners, Annie Barsalou and Marc Latendresse, term the spot a "success story." Many of the venue's most popular poutines have come to be through a painstaking process of trial, error and innovation, with the oldest item on the menu holding a particularly special place in Barsalou's heart.

Just three ingredients make up one of the most sinfully delicious dishes in Quebec. Most of us who have devoured a poutine or two in our lifetime know those standard three: fries, gravy and of course, cheese. But not just any cheese, it's gotta be cheese curds.

Cheese curds aren't given enough credit for being the MVP of poutine ingredients. Without them, you've just got fries and sauce, or as we call it here "frites sauce" — so a genius amount of curds is needed to create the classic dish.

Montreal restaurants don't play around! So when it comes to making a list (and checking it twice) of must-try Montreal spots to eat at during your next visit to the 514, the city certainly makes things easy for you.

When it comes to poutine, Quebec's most prized food, there's no denying just how satisfying this delish meal is, amirite? — I mean there's a whole Poutine Week festival dedicated to the dish.

From the French fries, cheese curds, all the way down to the gravy, it's pure perfection, but what if we told you there's one poutine out there that reigns supreme? Well, there is.
