Quebec City Officially Chose Its Flashy New Trams & They Sound Nicer Than The Montreal Metro

Quebec City is set to get 34 modern, flashy trams for its new 19.3-kilometre tramway. The city has awarded a CA$1.34 billion contract to French company Alstom for the production and maintenance of the vehicles. The company will design and assemble them in Quebec.

The trams will come from Alstom's low-floor Citadis line, whose products are already in use or forthcoming in 70 cities around the world. In a press release, the company says the electric cars will be "comfortable, modern and spacious," and "adapted to the climatic and topographical conditions of Quebec City."

Quebec Is Ditching Its Plan For A New Highway Under The Saint Lawrence River

The highly anticipated "third link" tunnel project connecting Québec to Lévis is no longer prioritizing car lanes, according to the Journal de Québec and confirmed to MTL Blog by Minister of Transport Geneviève Guilbault's spokesperson Maxime Roy via email.

Guilbault is set to formally announce this shift in focus at a press conference on Thursday, Roy told MTL Blog. Initial plans for the third-link tunnel included three lanes in each direction stacked on top of each other in a two-level setup, with one lane in each direction reserved for electric buses, plus connections to Québec City's forthcoming tramway.

A Beachside Music & Food Festival Is Coming Back To Quebec This Summer

Music and food festival Cigale is coming back to Quebec City for a second edition this summer. 16 local and international artists will take to the stage as festivalgoers enjoy bites from food trucks and counters on the sandy beach of the Baie de Beauport.

The Festival d'été de Québec Lineup Just Dropped — Including Lana Del Rey & Pitbull

Quebec City's eleven-day summer music festival, the Festival d'été de Québec (FEQ) just dropped its 2023 lineup and it's frankly an odd mix of artists and genres.

Weezer and Billy Talent will open the festival as the July 6 headliners. Imagine Dragons will follow on July 7. Next up are Foo Fighters, Zach Bryan, and Les Trois Accords on July 8, 9 and 10, respectively. Then, it's Lil Durk headlining on July 11, followed by Illenium on July 12. Les Cowboys Fringants, Pitbull, and Lana Del Rey are the respective July 13, 14 and 15 headliners. And Green Day will close the festival on July 16.

Quebec City Dumped A Huge Amount Of Raw Sewage Into The River Over The Weekend

Over the weekend, Quebec City was forced to try and quickly repair a broken valve at one of its wastewater plants after sewage began to spill into the St. Lawrence River.
