It's that time of year again: back to school. As the semester kicks off, you might find yourself grabbing new books and school supplies. Maybe you're debating whether to drop that one class because it's at an inconvenient time, or the professor seems a tad intense. Perhaps the syllabus doesn't quite resonate with you. And on top of all of that, you're probably also on the hunt for a job.

I mean, how else can one be expected to dine out at Montreal's best restaurants, go on cute dates or take advantage of the many things to do across the city without some pocket change, y'know? Now, I get it. It's frustrating, it is. You have to study and work? Unfair. I know, but alas, I don't make the rules, I'm simply here to help you connect with viable employment opportunities so that you can enjoy studying, living and working in Montreal as much as possible.

Revenu Québec has hundreds of student jobs available and is currently accepting applications. The jobs and internships are based in cities across the province, including Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Brossard, Gatineau, and Quebec City.

There are opportunities for students in high school, as well as college, and university. Wages depend on the education level required for a given position, according to an online FAQ page. Jobs or internships that require a high school level of education pay $15.53/hour; those that require a college education pay $19.67/hour; undergraduate university education, $23.03/hour; and graduate levels, $26.96/hour.

Bill 21 continues to face heavy opposition. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) has been fighting it since it was passed in June 2019. Since it entered force, Quebec police officers, teachers and lawyers, among other public servants, have been required to take off any religious garb or symbols while performing their duties. This includes hijabs, turbans, crosses and yarmulkes.
