This winter, Récréoparc in Sainte-Catherine, just south of downtown Montreal along the Saint Lawrence River, is transforming into a magical winter playground with nine kilometres of hiking trails, weekend DJ sets and bar service, and an 850-metre-long illuminated ice skating path.

Seasonal activities at Récréoparc also include two ice rinks, a two-kilometre route for cross-country skiing, almost two kilometres of snowshoeing trails, and a two-kilometre path for winter walks.

It's the dead of winter in Montreal. Bars are closed. Where can one get their freaking disco on in Montreal right now? The answer: the skating rink in Parc La Fontaine where free disco skating nights are taking place on Friday nights throughout the month.

Funky light projections take place every evening on the ice at dusk as a collaboration between Le bassin des merveilles, Pépinière Espaces Collectifs, MAPP MTL and UQÀM interactive media students.

Montreal winter simply isn't complete without a trip (or 10) to Parc Jean-Drapeau for some childlike fun. And the park just released its program for this snowy season, which is taking place from December 18, 2021, to March 6, 2022.

This iconic park is hosting activities for cyclists, cross-country skiers, nature lovers, hikers — basically, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. The park specified in a press release that "While the help of Mother Nature will be needed to set up some of the activities, current forecasts are, fortunately, calling for a mild, snowy winter!"
